Oak Frames and Cycling Equipment
The first thing to remember is that a clean bike is a fast bike. Keeping your frame and components clean of and grease will make them last longer. We recommend washing your bike regularly. Degreasers like (Product - ) help ensure that you’ve removed all of the grime from your bike.
For those looking to take frame cleaning to the next level, we recommend Gtechniq as a ceramic coating that protects your frame from dirt, grime and water.
Once your frame and components are clean, we recommend using a quality chain lube or wax. Chain lubes like (Product - CeramicSpeed UFO Drip Lube) are great as they can be easily applied to your chain and are not greasy. Waxes like the (Product - Silca Super Secret Wax) are great for riders looking to maximize their efficiency, even with the additional work required to wax chains. We have seen drivetrain components like cassettes, chains, and cassettes last significantly longer with wax or high quality chain lube products.
With carbon wheels, it is important to be careful when installing tires. We recommend (Product - Pedros Tire Levers) because they are plastic, which reduces the change of damaging your rim, while still providing proper leverage.
Oak Apparel
We partner with PEOPLES for our cycling jersey and bibs. They recommend washing your kit on a delicate wash cycle with cold water. Zipping your jersey and turning your kit inside out can help reduce damage to your kit and help the logos last longer. Avoid using any fabric softener or bleach.
Elite bottles are dishwasher safe to make washing easy. The cap should be removed, and bottles placed on the top rack as too hot of a dishwasher setting can damage the bottles. Below 40°C is recommended.
