But what matters most to us isn’t just that they’re light, fast, and well‑specced. It’s that they share the same instincts that guide Oak: focus on real riding and racing, remove what’s unnecessary, and let performance speak more quietly than marketing.

Racing is how we think clearly about equipment. "Sokudo" means "speed" in Japanese, it doesn't get much more clear than that. A wheelset has to feel right when you jump, when you brake late, and when the pace is high for longer than is comfortable. Sokudo approaches their wheels with the same standard: they’re made for crits, road races, and fast group rides where stability, responsiveness, and trust matter more than a lab graph.

Sokudo’s modern, wide rims—around 30 mm external and 24 mm internal on models like the 50R and 60R—pair beautifully with wider tires, bringing more grip and comfort without dulling the ride. Technically, the wheels are everything you’d expect from serious race kit. Deep sections like the 50R and 60R use wide carbon rims and high‑end hubs such as DT Swiss 180, known for ceramic bearings and the reliable EXP ratchet system. In some builds, 60 mm‑deep sets land around 1,200g a pair—numbers that put them firmly in top‑tier territory for wheels this deep and capable. But those details only matter because they’re in service of the bigger picture: a wheelset that feels trustworthy at speed and aligned with a bike built to be ridden hard.
